How Your Brain Is Working Against You

Hey there,

Your brain has been busy—crafting a narrative about your life, defining who you are, what you’re capable of, and what’s out of reach.

And most of it isn’t even true.

Maybe it’s been telling you that success is for other people. That change is impossible. That your dreams are just that—dreams.

And the worst part is that you probably believe it.

These stories run on autopilot. They dictate how you see yourself, what you pursue, and what you avoid.

They’re so ingrained, you might not even realize they’re there. You just think, “This is who I am.”

But honestly, your brain isn’t great at fact-checking. It’s wired for efficiency, not accuracy.

It takes past experiences, subconscious observations, and random offhand comments and weaves them into a storyline.

And once that story is written, your brain fights to keep it alive—whether it’s helpful or not.

Research from psychologist Dr. Wendy Wood shows that up to 40% of our actions are habit-driven, not conscious choices.

And a whopping 95% of brain activity happens on autopilot.

Translation: the stories you tell yourself are shaping your life, whether you realize it or not.

A single childhood moment—like being left out or stumbling over your words—can morph into a lifelong belief: “

I’m not good enough,” “People don’t like me,” “I’m bad at public speaking.”

And because your brain craves consistency, it clings to these stories, rejecting any evidence that contradicts them.

But here’s the good news: your brain is changeable.

Neuroplasticity—the ability of the brain to rewire itself—means that new habits, thoughts, and experiences can literally reshape it.

In other words, you can rewrite the story.

It won’t feel natural at first. Change never does. When you start acting differently, your brain will push back.

This isn’t me,” it’ll argue. But if you persist, something incredible happens.

Over time, your subconscious starts gathering new evidence: “Wait, maybe this is me.

It’s not instant. It’s not easy. But it’s real. And it’s worth it.

I know because I’ve been there.

For years, I carried around stories from my childhood and let them shape my identity. I thought I was this “alpha” type—angry, defensive, driven.

But deep down, I knew that wasn’t me.

It took years of unlearning, rewiring, and uncomfortable self-reflection to change that story. And even now, the process continues.

So here’s the question: what story is your brain telling you about yourself? And is it actually serving you?

Your brain will always create stories—it’s what it does. But you get to decide which ones you believe.

And when you rewrite your narrative, you just might find that the life you’ve been dreaming of was waiting for you all along.

Have a wonderful week, all.

These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2023

If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
