You Have No Excuse Not to Do This

In partnership with

Hey there,

Sometimes the best advice is so simple it feels like a punchline: just keep moving forward.

You might not know exactly where you’re going, or even where you are, but if you keep putting one foot in front of the other, you’re making progress.

Whether you’re scaling a corporate ladder, a mountain, or your own self-doubt, the journey requires one thing: consistency.

And before you ask, no, there isn’t a “secret” formula.

I’ve been asked every question under the sun—my morning routine, my diet, my workouts, what podcasts I listen to, and, of course, how I got so handsome (okay, my wife would be rolling her eyes at that dad joke…).

But the truth is, most people don’t struggle with a lack of information.

They struggle with doing the basics.

It’s way easier to DM someone for advice than to get off your ass and do the thing.

Going to the gym once is tough. Going five days a week is tougher. Which is why people don’t stick with it.

But the thing is, you don’t have to love the grind. You just have to commit long enough to find the parts you do love.

Take running, for example.

I recently completed the Spartan 21k in Vermont, and trust me, I don’t leap out of bed thrilled to go running during all of my months of extensive training.

But I’ve learned to enjoy the mental clarity, the boost to my VO2 max, and the feeling of blowing past what I thought were my limits.

After the first mile, when I finally hit my stride, it’s like unlocking a cheat code.

Do I love running itself? Not exactly. But I love what it gives me.

Maybe for you, it’s not running. It could be swimming, pilates, yoga, or hiking. The type doesn’t matter.

What matters is that you show up, consistently. Just 30 minutes a day. That’s it.

You probably spend more time than that scrolling through reels of people’s cats knocking things off tables.

And here’s why that 30 minutes matters: the right habit doesn’t just improve one area of your life.

It has a ripple effect. Journalist Charles Duhigg calls these “keystone habits.”

For me, it was strength training. For years, I was scrawny no matter what I did.

But once I committed to consistent lifting, everything else clicked: I ate better, slept better, drank more water, and had more energy.

That single habit reshaped my entire life.

So, no excuses. You have 30 minutes. Pick a habit.

Commit to it daily and watch it compound into something much bigger than you expected.

Have a wonderful week, all.
